Oyakodon, a delicious Japanese dish made with chicken, eggs, and a savory sauce, served over steamed rice. This recipe serves 2 and is easy to prepare, making it perfect for a cozy meal. The combination of dashi, soy sauce, and mirin creates a rich flavor that complements the tender chicken and fluffy eggs.
1: In a medium sized pan, add water, dashi powder, soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. Turn the burner on to medium heat, and bring the liquids to a simmer. 2: Once simmering, add onions and chicken, and cook for 6 minutes total, flipping the chicken halfway through. 3: While waiting, place steamed rice into two serving bowls. 4: After 6 minutes, turn the heat to low and add half of the beaten egg. Cover with a lid and cook for 1 minute and 30 seconds or until the egg is set. Remove the lid and add the rest of the egg and cook the egg to your preference. 5: Serve immediately by sliding half a portion on top of each of the rice bowls. Garnish with green onions and seaweed strips.
